Plex is a client–server media player system plus an ancillary software suite. The Plex Media Server desktop application runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. The server desktop application organizes video, audio, and photos from a user's collections and from online services, enabling the players to access and stream the contents. Plex today is launching a new desktop application for Mac and Windows, with the goal of eventually replacing Plex Media Player as the company's only desktop solution. The app's arrival also. I am really excited to be able to post on r/PleX now, because my open-source, completely free mobile application, LunaSea, now has full support for Tautulli! LunaSea is a fully featured, open source self-hosted media manager! The Plex for iOS app is available to download for free from Apple's App Store. While many features of the app are available to use for free and users can test out all of the features, there are playback limitations when streaming from a Plex Media Server unless the app is unlocked.
I have installed Plex media server on my mac and tried to uninstall it. I have realized that just removing the application from application folder alone won't uninstall it. Here are the steps to completely remove the Plex Client and Plex Media Server from your Mac OS Computer:
Ubuntu Plex Client
- Make sure the Plex Client and Plex Media Server are not running
- Delete the following Files and Folders:
- /Applications/Plex.app
- ~/Library/Application Support/Plex
- ~/Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server
- ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.plexapp.mediaserver.plist
- ~/Library/Preferences/com.plexapp.plexmediaserver.plist
- ~/Library/Preferences/com.plexsquared.Plex.plist
~ is your Home directory.
